I was planning to bid on this collection of Contax finder on eBay, but the network at work went down, and I was unable to sign on until one minute after the auction ended. Someone got a tremendous deal. I knew that I should have stayed home today!

Unbelievable, someone got all three for less that $70 USD. I would have paid that for the 35mm finder alone. The waist level finder is supposed to be rare- KEH recently had one listed for $375.

I guess that this is an argument in favor of bidding your maximum early, instead of waiting to the end of the auction.

The computer crash must have been fated...

Somtimes we Systemadministrators do that to the users to have some fun too :-)

Befor Ebay we couldn't do more than deleting some files, like the powerpoint presentation due in 15 minutes, or store porn in someones private folder, sending embarassing e-mails from a users account to his bosses secretary and so on.

Today with Ebay we have so much more possibilities :-)

Come to think of it, are you sure your Sysadmin is not interested in cameragear?

good idea, I should check to see if my sysadmin is a Contax freak!

No hard feelings toward you sysadmin types- given some of the problems that they face, it's a miracle that the system doesn't crash more often. For example, I know several people here at work who have never, and will never, delete a single email. Given that we have over 1000 folks on the system, if even 10% of them save all email, such actions consume tremendous resources on the server.

Last place I worked, the sysadmin automatically deleted all emails over 90 days old. Everyone was advised to save important emails on hard drives or archive media- tough luck if you didn't, because they would vanish otherwise.

On the other hand, not being able to bid on this lost opportunity leaves me $ to bid on others- damn GAS!
