Windows Movie Maker
Do you mean "Open Source" as in available source code? This would be in the Linux environment, possibly ported to Windows.
If you mean free software, I like Faststone file viewer which runs a neat slideshow.

windows software is the opposite of open.
I need a free program running on mac, linux and win, and that can give me a slideshow in a portable file format.

Hey buddy, I got a black belt in LaTeX and beamer class. I need audio, and it's mainly for my girlfriend. (She runs mac, I do win and debian)

Can you live with Picasa? Free and mac/win, and it'll do audio:

Another support for Bearmer (in LaTeX). Since started using LaTeX I never looked back. :)
For LaTeX type solution ask at LaTeX Community (http://www.latex-community.org/forum/) or Stack Exchange (http://tex.stackexchange.com/).
Most any PDF viewer can be used in slide show mode with any PDF document. When I travel I generally have a backup copy of my talks in PDF format on a thumb drive because there's always going to be a reliable way to show that version, regardless of the OS used by the projection system.
