I'm considering a Bessa R with a 50mm Nokton and want to know from owners how it compares to the newer models R2 and R3. Is age and issue with the R series? I have had little luck with M2 and M3 bodies and flaring of a Summilux.
I meter with my Sekonic primarily and plan to use higher speed B+W so the Leica handhold/lowlight issue is null.
The main difference is the move from L39 thread mount to M-mount. If you would like to buy m mount leica lenses in the future an M bayonet bessa R2 will save you money in the long run. If you just want a relatively cheap rangefinder bessa R's come up second hand far more often for less money. I've had a bessa R for six years never had a problem I think rangefinder misalignment is an achilles heel with some worth checking before buying. I shoot the same way as you intend to IMO the bessa is an excellent tool for that job
All the Bessas I've tried had very bright, contasty, flare-resistant finders. I guess "best" would be dependent on what you are looking for: The T's is the most accurate, the R3a's is 1:1. The R's is perfectly good. I am sure you will not be disappointed.
