have you abandoned your other cameras?

when i first got the x100 i had a terrible time getting used to it...things have sorted themselves out now and i am really liking the image quality it produces...though i am not producing at the same level as with my rd1...but i cannot put the little x100 down and have not used the rd1 for ages now.

has anyone else experienced this?
have you dropped it all for the x100?

No. I prefer the M9 unless I'm going out with friends, or if I need two cameras at the same time, or I need high ISO or macro...then the Fuji is the camera.

But I do love the X100. I printed an image from it at 15 x 20 inches - absolutely spectacular!!

When I got my Leica, I dropped a nikon and contax SLR system with 3+ lenses for each along with my pentax 6x7 with 5 lenses. I can't put my Leica down. My Hassey is getting jealous as a result.

i am completely taken by the image quality of the fuji lens...i can't remember ever seeing this kind of chrispness and clarity before...

and also, kinda silly i think, i like only having the one small bag to carry...the little lowepro makes my domke 5xa seem so bulky.

not so far gerry...but then i shoot a limited pallette...i would not want to give up the rd1 and my assortment of lenses any time soon...but i did often head out with just one lens with it too.

It is great little camera and capable of producing very good output. I like the size and lack of weight. I've got it set fine for what I want and I am well used to the controls - it is easy to use. However, I don't "love" it. I can't understand why. The upshot is that whilst I enjoy using it, it is just one other camera. Last weekend I used my Canon 5D with a 50 on it, Olympus OM2 with an 85 and Leica M7 with a 35 and 50 (not all at the same time). The X100 had one short outing but mostly stayed at home.:confused:

I've had mine since May and use it almost exclusively. I occasionally use my GF1 with an adapted longer lens. I think I am currently experiencing the new toy syndrome but this camera is so good I expect it will remain my main shooter.

Yes, I kind of have. Up until I got the X100, I primarily used film cameras because I was just never happy with the quality and look of the images I got from my digital cameras compared to film. However, much like Joe, I am simply blown away by the quality of the images you get out of the X100. That coupled with some technically basic but, for me, very rewarding changes to my digital workflow means that I am getting images out of the X100 that make me awfully reluctant to pick up anything else. I know I won't stop shooting film but the X100 is very likely to be my main shooter from now on. This is 3 months into owning the camera. Not a huge amount of time by any means but enough for it to lose the new car smell.

No, it is just one tool in the chest.

For example, I am using the D700 a lot right now for lifestyle and starlit stock shoots. The Xpan and 501 CM are shooting Kodak High Speed Infrared for a book project, the M3 & M6 loaded with Tri-X for another book project, all get used in the course of every week...

The X100 goes to work later this week as the primary...

being an amateur and mostly having the same shooting habits i can survive easily with one lens...i am sure that sooner or later i will return to using the rd1 again and take advantage of my other focal lengths.

I sold mine as I bought my M9 5 or 6 months ago and am thinking of buying it again for the high ISO capabilities. Won't be my exclusive camera but will be at night.

I've been using the X100 exclusively since I got it about 2 months ago. Like most of us, it's taking me a while to get used to it, but a really like the size, AF and IQ. (One thing I still can't sort out is where to put my thumb -- there's no good spot on the rear!) However, there have been a fair number of occasions when I wanted the finder magnification of the R-D1 and the option of a longer lens. So I think that, once I've gotten the hang of using the X100 fluidly, I'll bring back the R-D1 for at least half of my photography. (And just yesterday, I went into my main bag to grab a lens brush for the X100, picked up the R-D1 with Canon 28/2.8 just for a quick fondle, and it felt like coming home. :) )

I've been using it almost exclusively for personal work, at least - still using SLRs for work, but the X100 has pretty much supplanted my R-D1s & bag o' lenses for daily carrying around. I did expect that to happen for a while as I was trying it out, but months have passed now and I haven't swung back to the Epson - yet...

Pretty much... yeah. It puts almost all my Nikon lenses to shame (maybe save the 80-200/2.8), tramples the D7000 in handling high ISO images, and is extremely compact and portable. I can't justify bringing my D7000 out anymore.

I do still shoot with my Leica iif though! fun fun fun! The fuji X100 is extremely versatile and all, but it can't replace a rangefinder.

With respect to "feeling limited" by the fixed focal length, I feel no such thing. I feel as if it has made me break out of my comfort zone and look at scenes and situations a little more differently. I used to really enjoy sitting back with a telephoto and snapping away, but I've come to appreciate the "get up close" method a bit more after using the fuji!

I'm currently back home for 5 weeks holidays, and I brought most of my equipments with me including my Canon EOS 5D MkII and lenses, Olympus EP2 and lenses, but it's still for now the Fuji X100 that's always with me wherever I go :)
