I'm using a 25mm Zeiss Biogon without the hood, and have to say the lens cap is driving me nuts.
It knocks-off easily. And, call me ignorant, but I can't get used to the fiddly fitting operation.
Anybody aware of workable alternatives?
You could swap it out with another lens cap of the same size.
Maybe try a screw-in cap? It's more bother to put on and take off, but pretty secure. One of my lenses came with one and it works well.
Try a Nikon 46mm cap, part # 12601. It has a much lower profile than the Zeiss one, and fits well, not extending beyond the chrome front bayonet (Leica 46mm caps do). You also can put on the Zeiss 25/28 hood over it but the cap can't easily be removed with the hood im place. My boyfriend lost my Zeiss 25mm's cap in our woods in Maine, and I replaced it with the Nikon, which is very cheap here, at US $3.95 from B & H Photo Video, but I don't know the price Down Under.
