I just came across an interesting web-page. Someone hacked apart a Leica copy (is it a Zorki? I know nothing about these things) and put the components of a Sony point-and-shoot inside. I have come across a few camera hackjobs before, but none this extreme (and yet clean). I'd imagine the digital parts would be obsolete by the time you finished the project :D but they made a video and took some photos of the construction, it looks interesting.

Here's a photo (obviously not mine)

This camera could be used by German air force officers from secret UFO division during expeditions under Antarctic. Assuming they had such innovations, digital camera would be casual thing.

I seriously admire the ingenuity and determination it took to graft the two cameras together with such precision but I'm a little confused by the point of his endeavour.

I guess it comes down to the old saying, "Why does a dog lick his balls?" .........
