View Full Version : Amedeo contax/ltm adapter and M3

Almost all of my lens are contax RF mount and I already got amedeo contax to ltm adapter to use the lenses with my IIIC,IIF, no problem so far. The best thing is I can select what frameline to be appear on my M2/Hexar RF/RD1 as easy as selecting the ltm to M adapter for it. This is better rather than the Amedeo contax to M adapter as you will be stuck with 50mm frameline only.

Then came M3 into my collection, dual stroke, 1957 model with a guard ring surrounding the lens lock. The bad news is that there is an area (the outer ring of the Amedeo contax to ltm adapter) of the adapter which will hit this guard and it will not allow the adapter to be mounted on M3. Too bad !

any idea if the M-version adapter have the same problem?
I really want to use all of my sonnars (50/85/135) in my M3! maybe, this is time go get a real M mount sonnar lens which is expensive enough for me..

File that area off? I dont think the M-mount has that problem otherwise it wouldn't be called the M-mount adapter!

The M mount Amedeo Contax adapter works fine on my M3.

I just ordered a Contax to M adapter from Amedeo. I wonder if I'll be able to use my collapsible Sonnar 5cm f2 safely with my M9. Has anyone tried this?

filed that area off ? it will ruin the nice look of the adapter, but what else I can do..

I have been using it with collapsible 50mm f2 CZJ, it can be collapsed on IIIC/M2/H-RF and RD1 safely, BUT, there is a small problem which is the claw of the collapsible lens is big enough(or the diameter of the collapsing tube is bigger) than normal elmar/cron/industar which may hit the RF focus wheel internally.
so in order to collapse it safely, I need to push slowly and turn somehow to make the focus wheel doesn't hit by claw.
when the lens is fully in, any attemps to turn the lens will make the claw rotate and hit the RF wheel, no problem as long as you don't do it often and with force, or else the RF wheel may get damaged/or calibration issue will be exist.
