View Full Version : Cable release hole too small ?

Hi everyone,

I have tried two different cables on my Bessa 667 but none can be screwed down fully into the shutter release hole (they just go in about halfway). I can still use the cable but feel that this setup is fragile and the cable release thread could snap off in the hole and get stuck in it with some twisting and turning that applies pressure on it. Also, because of the distance offset I have to push the metal thread harder into the shutter in order to release it, which results in vibration and blurring. Anyone has this problem and what cable release you are using ?
Many thanks

I have no problem with my cable release.

But if you're looking for a professional, mechanical perfect cable release you should address to this company:

Is the hole too small or the cable too big, its a chicken or egg situation? Cable release sockets and the fitting for them are tapered so yes they will not go all the way in.
Suggest you try a Linhof cable release.

Thanks for your suggestions. Have you used the Linhof or Schreck cable with the Bessa 667 ? How far can they go into the socket ? The Gepe pro cable I used could only go in for less than 1 turn.

I think it has to do with the Bessa III 667 thread because my regular cable release is going 1 1/2 turn inside my M7 (Leica) and 1 turn in the 667. So I think you have a valid point about the thread.
These things are NEN/ISO normalized but somehow you can see the deviations now.

I think you just have to try another cable release because making a modification on the 667 camera is more difficult and "tricky".

I haven't tried the linhof on a bessa. But it was the only one that fitted into my schneider large format lenses properly. The others I tried went in but only just.

I have a cheap cable with my GF670. It goes for 1 turn only, but it is not a problem really.
You just have to be carefeul with the way you use it.
