View Full Version : Selling NEX 5, wait for NEX 7?
Hi,
I'm selling my NEX 5, I just can't get along with the lack of EVF, BTW, if anyone is interested, it's here...
http://www.rangefinderforum.com/photopost-classifieds/showproduct.php/product/27881/title/sony-nex-5-with-16mm-lens-and-other-bits/cat/6
Is anyone else in this boat? I really like the NEX, but I need a peephole!
Does anyone know the release date of the NEX 7?
Cheers

I've read rumors about the NEX 7 being delayed along with the NEX C3 because of the disaster in Japan. Even before that I had only heard that it would come out in the fall.
This (http://www.sonyalpharumors.com/sr2-sony-nex-7-rumors-from-photorumors/) is what it is rumored to look like.
If they would revamp the flash plug to take a really good EVF, there'd be another earthquale.
That Nex-7 footprint doesn't interest me, if they keep it more x100ish it would be tempting.
x300 could be interesting.
sounds like the x100 is not quite perfected:

Same here. I love the moveable LCD, but I really want and EVF.

Very happy with my NEX 3.
Me too. Love my Nex-3.
Especially considering how much it cost, and the fact that I consider most digital cameras to be expendable purchases. I run mine into the ground, then throw them away, when they go ka-flut. Just like with all my other computer/electronic stuff.
Love my EVF-2 with the EP-2. It is match made in digital heaven.

It'd be nice if Sony would put out an EVF for the accessory port, but can that port even handle that much data?
I'm ordering an NEX 5 (tomorrow, if things go right). I've researched the crap out of it and if the E-PL2 had more of the features of the NEX, I would be buying one of those just for the EVF-2.
Before the NEX, I had 3 other digital compacts. I specifically chose models that had a viewfinder built in. But did I use the built in finders? No, never; always shot using the rear LCDs. For cameras that small, to me that seems the most natural way to shoot them. So when I got the NEX, I wasn't bothered by the lack of a finder. And so far I haven't missed it either; the rear LCD is all I need.
I just attach a cold shoe adapter and mount a 25mm VF for use with my 16mm lens. It's close enough for composition. Or I attach a magnifier (with eyepiece) to the LCD when using a manual focus lens w/ adapter, and voila... instant VF!!!

I will use an EP-2 for most lenses, and one day, I will get a NEX-15 for a wide angle lens.
maybe 7 comes with bigger sensor than 3 or 5...
current NEX lenses would work on full frame ?
I know am day dreaming... :p

Jeez, if that is really the NEX7, I think you made a mistake.

There's no reason to wait around for an EVF. You can make this for about $40, and you get a huge EVF that folds pretty flat. I'm not sure that I want an official EVF anymore. See here: http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/readflat.asp?forum=1042&thread=38139127&message=latest
