When I switch out the advance lever of my recently acquired F2 to its 20 degree "play angle", the lever doesnŽt stay there, it immediately snaps back. None of my other manual Nikons shows this behaviour.
The transport works correct.
Is this an issue or a modification or ...
IŽd like to get some advice. Thank you!
Hi, it should stay there. The 20% angle (or as you call it, "play angle") turns the meter switch on the F2 with metering heads.
Best source of F2 advice, and repairs is of course Sover Wong in England.

+1 on Sover. Great guy to deal with too.
Mine springs out with a definite click, feels like it's going into a detent. When this happens the advance lever is just past the red dot on the body to indicate metering is active.

Another vote for Sover. He serviced 3 F2's and an F that I have and they all work beautifully. He is the man for any F2 work.

Sounds like a problem, the lever activates the camera's internal battery to power the meter.
I have one F2 body that does the same thing as yours, does not stay out. I use it with a DP-2 meter with DS-1 servo-motor. In this configuration, the battery in the servo-motor powers the meter. Using the setup with a Motor-Drive has advantages.
Sover is tops-honest, competent, reasonable and fast!
