Just got a Leica M8.2 and I am totally addicted! The camera seems to have an issue when I leave it off for a while and turn it back on.

When I switch to S mode and try to take a picture I get the "bottom cover removed" warning. Of course, the battery bottom cover is secure. Now when I turn the camera off and then on again, I am able to snap a picture but it shows up as 0/0 and does not get recorded to the SDHC card. I have to turn it off again and then back on before things start working normally. This usually happens when I leave it off for a while.

I have just updated to firmware 2.005. I leave discreet mode on (maybe I should try using it off). And I use an 8GB Transcend SDHC. I am wondering if the problem may be coming from the SDHC brand and the camera having issues reading it...

Anyone else have experience with this issue?

I found it best to Format the SD card in the camera, had my M8 not store to an SD card that was out of the box.

Also- I tend to use smaller cards. 2GByte and 4GByte seem very reliable.

Well I borrowed a Transcend 4GB Class 6 card and it seems to be working fine now. I bought a new SanDisk 8GB SDHC UHS class 1 card. Hope that works fine.

Update: The SanDisk 8GB Extreme Pro 45mb/s works fine on my Leica M8.2!

Make sure you reformat the card in the camera every time you download images off of it and don't just delete them!

Happy to hear that the issue is resolved.

I have a M8.2 and never experienced the problem you described. I use a Sandisk Extreme 8 and 16 gb 10 class 30 mb/s without any problems.

I do agree it is a wonderful camera . . . . . enough to cause a GAS attack, so I now own a M9 as well. :bang: :D :D
