I haven't received this camera yet, but I'm wondering who does CLA for it. :D

Are you planning to shoot off a few tens of thousanda of shots with it in a short time?

As long as it is within the warranty period, Fuji will fix it. They do not have a 24 months/ 24Thousand picture whichever comes first style warranty, I suspect it will be a time-period covered, with option to buy an extended warranty. That will be cheaper then sending it to me for a CLA.

Have you not heard that CLAs are a thing of the past with digital, just use and dispose.

Sure. Look up the official repair site instead of sending your camera to me.

And I wanted to see if one could be converted to use the new "Flash-Imprint Layered Media".

For extra smoothness, do CLA before first use!

Does it need a CLA if I sandpaper it for that "worked in" look?

What would be the cost of adding an M2-style wind lever?

Yep. And to achieve that buttery smoothness the camera needs a bit of butter in it! :D:p

This is an important issue to me. I've been scouring forum classifieds and the Bay for a used X100 (figure the beta testers must get tired of them at some point). The first thing I want to do with my new used X100 is get it CLA'd. You know, just to make sure...

* 'CLA' special offer *
When the aggravation of a perfectly working digital x100 camera becomes too intense to bear, just send it in for a 'CLA'!
Your camera will be placed on the shelf for weeks until you call in to see how the 'repair' is going. Whereupon we'll pack-up the perfectly working camera that you sent us and we'll send it back to you. At this juncture you have a few options, you can send it back to us saying that the rangefinder is still miss-aligned, the cover is pealing or that you've lost your mind. Either way, we'll continue the charade until we're rich. :p

Digital CLA = put it on eBay "great camera but I have got two of them so I'm letting go one" :D

Stick it in the dishwasher.
Dry it in the oven.

Just replace it with the next model which will be out 4 months later.

I agree. It is a fixed lens disposable camera. By the time it needs service it will be an obsolete piece of junk not worth fixing. It is the nature of digital cameras.

The advantage of some removable lens cameras is the lens will remain useful into the future, amusing use of it's lens mount continues.

An X100 will be in the junk pile in five years along with other digital attached lens cameras and current digital bodies for interchangeable lens cameras.

Or replace it with a Leica M2 before first use

Weren't we a bit overdue for a truly silly one, though?

It depends ... if the camera has been in storage for ten years or more I'd be tempted to get it CLA'd.

Just don't send it to DAG ... by the time you get it back it'll be obsolete!

I'm wondering how long it will be before someone sends one off for the black-paint treatment. And lizard-skin.

And also, once CLA'd ensure you iron your SD cards before using to make the experience even smoother. ;)

Someone CLA's a digital camera? I thought they throw digital cameras away when they're not fit to be used anymore?:p

The fact that this threat has received so much attention is testament that you can make up any thread about the X100 right now, and people will comment. Kinda makes me want this camera less now.
