I have my X100 on pre-order and was trying to find a link on the Fuji site that discussed recommended SDHC cards. I want to have a couple on hand when the camera arrives.

Knowing how fickle the M8/M9 is regarding cards, I had hoped Fuji would provide some suggestions. Has anyone found any such information?

I don't have any confirmation of this but I would be surprised if this wasn't suitable.

For what it's worth, I used a Sandisk Extreme III 4GB card in it here, and had no problems...

I'm sorry to hear that both your M8 and M9 in your possession are being fickle regarding cards.

Should work well with the Sandisk, Kingston, A-Data, Transcend, and other cards that work well in the M8, Nikons, Canons, Panasonic, and other Fuji cameras that take SD cards.

If you're going to use video, you might want Class 6 or higher.

The M9 issues are the M9, not the SD cards, from what I have read.

I've always used Lexar CF cards for my Nikons, so I'm going to pick up some Lexar class 10 SDHC cards for the X100 and I'll report on compatibility when I can test them.

what SD cards are you guys buying for this camera?

I have a whole bunch of SanDisk Extreme III 2.0GB cards, doesn't say what class they are, are these any good?

I see there are SDHC 32GB cards out there, isn't that overkill? - to have all you shots on 'one' card. Isn't that a bit risky? What capacity are you running.. 4 / 8 / 16 GB?

Which are the fastest, best cards out there, the Sandisk Extreme Pro SDHC's?

Sorry for all the Q's been out of the market regarding SD cards for 2-3 years!

For what it's worth, the RAW files I've got are 19MB each from the X100; so if you want to work out how many you'll get on a card, that should help. I'd say 4GB minimum would be the ideal for me - that's about 200 images - but I'd be just as likely to get an 8 or 16GB for myself, and a spare battery or two as they're good for about 300 frames on a charge. 16GB should cover you for 800 frames, or two and a half battery charges.

Likewise, if you're only going to have one battery, you'd probably be fine with an 8GB card (=400 frames).

I have four Sandisk Extreme III's 4GB cards ready for mine when it arrives. I do want a spare battery or two. I am planning to shoot RAW+JPG

I really can't claim to recommend anything, having only used the camera in-store for less than half an hour; all I can say (again) is that Fuji Guys recommend Class 6 at least, and that personally I've only ever used SanDisk cards professionally, and always their Extreme series. Never had a problem - but that's not to say they'll work as flawlessly with this camera as they have with 1-Series Canon bodies.

The Toshibas may be faster, I couldn't say; but if they're listing their maximum speed vs. Sandisk's average or minimum guaranteed speed...also, have the Toshibas sacrificed Error Correction Code (ECC) for speed? I have no idea, I'm just asking.

Frankly, what I'll probably wind up doing is buying a newer/bigger SD card for one of my Canons, and bumping the SD card that's in there now down to the X100, now that I think about it. Which likely means I'll be using a Sandisk Extreme III 8GB Class 6 30MB/s card, until / unless I run into some kind of problem with that. (That said, it's VERY unlikely I'll be shooting video on the X100, so I won't be taxing the card's speed in that particular way.)

Thank you :) I have been using nothing but SanDisk Extreme III's on my M8's, but I'm thinking of getting a SanDisk 16 or 32 GB Extreme Pro 45MB/s for the X100 and be done with it. Its the max speed SanDisk card at present. Its probably faster than the X100 is capable of writing, but will future proof it for other faster cameras down the line.

Always have been wary in the past with getting cards which are too large, all eggs in one basket syndrome which is why I have like ten 2GB Extreme III cards. But then on the flip side I don't have to swap cards on an assignment. Just fingers crossed the reliability of a 16 or 32GB card is going to be robust.

none, this is a camera meant to be used and beaten.

Interestingly, according to the manual (see the other thread for that link) you only need Class 4 cards or higher for shooting video.

If you are worried, there are Class 10 Fujifilm SDHC cards. That should do it and not expensive.

Have had two Kingston cards fail, fortunately right away, so not much was on them, one a micro card, the other the normal SD. They ran me around a bit, but replaced one of them.

I used to think 4GB was huge, but if you shoot Raw+Jpeg with an M9, it makes me think of larger cards.

Been leaning toward Sandisk in any of the Extreme categories, have missed most of the discussions about which one is the very best.

I picked up a 16GB SanDisk Extreme Pro and it works fine with the X100

I use a Lexar SDXC 128GB.

128GB. So fill it up four times and you can fill a 500GB hard drive. Interesting.
