So - who has already ordered a set of spare batteries and charger so they can start using it immediately? :D

guilty -- hook line and sinker
Hang on - you're not saying it ships without a charger, are you? (Tell me you don't plug the CAMERA in to charge the battery, please!!)

Watch the recent Fuji Guys unboxing video and relax: The camera does indeed comes with a battery charger.
Use Leica M2/M3/M4: You donīt need batteries:-)

I can understand the spare battery, but why the extra charger?

Why?
So you can start to photograph the second you unpack it by inserting a fresh 100% charged battery while the one shipped with the camera charges.

It uses the same batteries as my Fuji W1 3D. I have spares and chargers. I just have not ordered a X100.
I haven't yet, but once I get confirmation it's on it's way I'll purchase a couple of extra batteries and a charger. I lose chargers all the time anyway.
That's a great battery. My Fuji F30/F31's regularly got > 400+ shots per charge with that little battery (CIPA rating was 580). Also, all the 3rd party ones, and chargers worked great.
Very nice that they didn't go with a new one, when they've already got a stellar proven one.
Now if they only had a xD slot too ;)
I am actually curious when it finally be possible to charge a camera via USB as we can do with phones. If one needs a dedicated battery charger - no problem, it should still be included (or just available), but when on the road the camera could charge from a laptop or via small usb charger (one could probably use the same for phone and camera). Very rarely I needed to keep one battery charging while the other was in use in the camera.
The idea of taking the battery out for every charge is getting old ...

It may be "old", Matus, but it's become "old hat" to those of us who upgraded our SLRs every generation or so. Even back in the film days, carrying a spare battery holder, loaded, that would slide into the motor drive grip was de rigueur with Nikons and then, with the really awful NiCad batteries that they came up with, you had no choice but to carry extras. Lithium-ion kind of revolutionized that. But I still carry a spare. If I can carry extra CF cards, an additional battery is a slight inconvenience.
These days, I can shoot upwards of 700 frames on a D3 before I have to touch the spare. Lithium. I have a spare for a Canon G9 that I carry and it's about the size of a roll of film, flattened slightly.
Personally I find the process of keeping a spare charged to be more convenient than tethering the camera, as it allows me to keep working.
Having said that, I have not ordered a battery and charger for the X-100. I'll wait a while and buy the camera, including the spare battery and charger - from one of you guys.

I didn't understand the extra charger thing until I went to Hawaii and had used both Leica batteries and my Panasonic GF1 battery -- and only had two chargers (one for each camera) and was going to have to get up in five hours for more camera shooting. So yeah, I got an extra charger as soon as I got home. It's a good thing I didn't need an extra battery for my trip out to Kilauea at dawn (http://gallery.me.com/deirdre#100277/L1000511&bgcolor=black) because I might have run out of juice.

Ah yes, makes sense... a bit spoiled, but makes sense. :)

Using an M8/M8.2/M9 you do. :D
No, you can't charge these with USB, but aftermarket chargers are affordable (~< $20) and they charge pretty quickly.
You can get an inverter for $29 or so to charge them from a car, or portable battery pack as well.
I'd just stock up on 5 batteries or so. That should last 1500 shots before needing to recharge any of them.

I've had good luck with the inexpensive eBay-Hong Kong off-branded chargers and batteries on all my digitals except for the Panasonics. In most cases I prefer the cheaper chargers because they are usually lighter and more compact, with folding N. American plugs, unlike the OEM chargers that use a long, bulky cord.

Do the job?
Fuji ones are Ģ24 for 1800mAh.

Probably ok, never had a problem with replacement batteries, even though the manual usually threatens disastrous consequences
Just ordered 3 for Ģ2.99 each from 7DayShop. Even if they only last 100 shots, they'll do for the time being.
Now I need to find a couple fo cards, on one very large one. Think I'll go for Sandisk Extreme III 16GB. Once payday arrives. :)
