om 180/2.8

What a great deal, got me all salivating to upgrade my OM outfit. I wonder what it would cost to get this 180mm f2.0 for the OM?

That's a good price. I think typical eBay rates for these run around $300 - $350 or so. I've sold a couple of the Zuiko 300/4.5's. They always fetch at least $250, but as much as $350 for a nice one.

IMO (humble) the Nikkor 180mm F2.8 ED is King of telephotos in this focal length range (although there may be some rare older Fluorite Canon lenses that could best it). Low dispersion glass and modern optical design is very hard to beat even by Zeiss (unless it's Zeiss doing it).

Joe,
you may be wondering what to expect in that box, but I certainly would never have expected someone to CLA a lens in one four hour sitting and describe every aspect of the packing and cleaning to you. A nice surprise, and I certainly hope the lens gives you a lifetime of excellent results.

gero, i agree.
i was shocked when i read his email, especially considering the 200/5 and what poor shape it was in. i never would have put that lens up for sale in the first place.

Congrats, Joe, seems like a good seller.

When you get the lens, I recommend to keep it away from its leather case, that's where the fungus most likely came from.

Best,

Roland.

in prime shape, with a metal screw in lens cap and complete tripod collar...i paid...100 bucks.
That's about what I paid for the ones that I sold. I got them with a large group of Olympus gear.

This is a bit O.T. here, but...

does anyone know how the 200/4 compares to the 180/2.8 optically? sharpness and contrast-wise?
