(Note to Mods. This thread is intended to assist a group of members in choosing a travel destination. Please leave the thread in 'Travel'. Thanks.)

In order to try and get an interesting choice for as many possible travellers as we can, I've made a poll of the most supported cities from the "E U R O M E E T" discussion thread.

The idea is to click once for your first choice and once for your second choice. That way if the votes are split on first choice but, for example, nearly everyone voted for the same second choice then we get a better overall decision. You may also like to explain your choices in order to persuade the rest of the group!

I did not include Sarajevo or Tbilisi, after the discussions in the thread. Beirut isn't here either as it was not so popular and there are, regrettably, stability concerns these days. (Tokyo and Timbuktu are "out-of-scope" . . . ;) )

I chose Prague as my first choice, because I'd like to go there, and Amsterdam as my second choice. Kiev might be good too though! Ooooo, decisions, decisions . . .

Funny: Bucharest is hardly popular is a first choice but as a second choice it's more popular than anything else!

I propose that the first choice be ruled out no matter what it is, so that the maximum amount of people can be happy about the next-best choice being Bucharest!

:p

Luckily so far only six people have voted :p:p

Vienna or Prag, I could get there by train and have enough Deutsche Bahn bonus points to get there for free
well that would work for amsterdam too, but I know it already.

Thank you for setting up the poll. I know the poll says 'Bucharest' but did you by any chance mean 'Budapest'? I think most people in that other thread proposed the latter, so perhaps it's a slip(?) Not that Bucharest wouldn't make an interesting choice, for different reasons than Budapest though:). Anyway, I've no horse in this race, my preferred choices are other. Whether I manage to join depends on the dates and the cost of the actual trip.

The number of mentions was even, with Bucharest being mentioned more often more recently. Also Budapest had one negative mark concerning reactions to groups of photographers. It is still on my list of European capitals to visit though, just not in a group of thirty or so. :)

Thanks. Makes sense.

I voted for Prague/Amsterdam. Kiev is a bit exotic for my taste and I didn't find interesting stuff when looking for kiev photos on flickr.
Don't have a valid passport right now. All locations except Kiev are accessible with my ID-card.

Is the "when" already decided?

I don't think so. It's what most of us need to know to decide whether its possible to go or not regardless of where its held. However, hats off to Martin for tackling this, herding cats has to be easier than organizing RFF'ers from around Europe to descend on one city for one weekend whilst ensuring the local breweries have sufficient stocks...you have contacted the local breweries haven't you Martin;):D

I have just got home, brewed some tea, and posted a second poll to find the weekend within April or May which we will choose for the Euromeet.

The "Which weekend?" poll is HERE.
