California (Bay Area, Northern) Bay Area/Sacto RFF Beer n' Gear Meeting

OK, we meet at 10:30 am at Cole Coffee, give or take (c'mon, it's Saturday so no worries about uber promptness).

MIA so far: Sug, RayPA, Kevin, Honus (co-tour guide), and ???

As always, the Sacto Posse looks forward to seeing all who can make it. Now, I gotta bring something different to show 'n shoot....

Uhhhh.... If I do that, she might take my allowance away!

Try this:

"Honey, I don't want you to miss your flight or have to sit around the airport as I hear they are doing work on both the Bay and San Mateo Bridges on Saturday. I stopped by the BART station and got you a ticket so you can just hop right on with this new spill-proof mug I picked up for you!"

This type of thinking is most likely why I'm still single however ;-)

Kent

Bob- I was hoping no one would notice. The shame ;-)

I may add an M3 to the mix at some point as I've always wanted one of those bad boys, being a 50 shooter the majority of the time.

Hmmmm, now I am tempted to bring my M3 DS modified by DAG to accept a Leicavit.

sorry guys I can't make it. I wish I could, but just way too busy moving this week. Saturdays the first day in the new place, and I'll be digging out. Have a blast. Have a beer on me. Thanks Bob!

Good luck with the new place Ray! We'll post some pics of the fine festivities.

FYI all.... I spoke to Kevin and he is working his tail off on his research project so he won't be able to make it this time.

Darren, is the m2/3 still sad looking? Also, seeing as I'm coming past your way would you like to carpool?

Same goes for anyone in the SC area. I'll be drinking coffee at 8 at verve on 41st ave, then out to Oakland. PM me if you'd like a ride!

Kevin, I think I might take you up on that offer.

A friend was generous enough to give me a spare top plate. The cameras back up and running but the shutters a little wonky. I can't seem to get the adjustments right. Maybe I'll bring it this weekend to shoot some more test rolls.

I've been out of touch for a week or so [ Mike inserts joke in 3, 2, 1 ... ]. I'm not sure what time I will be able to join the festivities. I'm helping my daughter with some activities in the morning, but I should be free to join in sometime before noon.

I have Mike and Kent's cell phone numbers. I'll give one of them a call to find out where the pack is wandering.

Not bad, Kent. Not bad at all. I might've tried it, but this morning found out that she forgot to renew her passport, so it looks like the trip is off (unless she can pull some miracle off with the US government folk!).

Beautiful day over in the East Bay! I even found a parking place that wasn't limited to 2 hours :)

Let the neighborhood wandering begin!

Crap, a work-related issue has come up (someone needs something yesterday), and I'm not going to be able to make it. I'm sure everyone will be relieved.

Tell them that if they wait another day, they'll be that much happier when they get it!

And you're going to miss meeting my daughter, who may tag along up to Cole Coffee with me! :)

I'll miss seeing you Mike. Next time.
Jamie

Today's Bay Area Beer & Gear

Today's Bay Area Beer & Gear

It was great meeting up with a large contingent of the Bay Area RFF club. They didn't even scare my 8-yr. old! :) Here are some pictures taken with the Canon S90:

The gang met up at Cole Coffee in the Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland. That's my daughter peering out from amongst the gear-heads.

The Gear (no beer... yet)

Bruce shows off the MANY nice 50's he brought. And that's a CV 21 mounted on his Panasonic G1. There were many M's, Barnack's, a Canon QL17, and Kent's Hexar.

Some passerby folk stopped to talk 'gear'.

Bingley and I just returned to Sacramento and had another fun time with the Bay Area Branch of Leica Enthusiasts (BABBLE) RFF folks. Beer never happened (how can that be???) but the same great camraderie we've seen before continues. Glad to say It Really Is Darren and glad to meet finally Robert (Honus), Bruce, too, as well as seeing stalwart participants Kent and Jamie and Jamie's daughter (hey, she needs a Leica and soon).

Jamie: speaking of M4s, two showed up in today's RFF. The newer one, priced well, is still there as I write this. Go get it!

A future meeting is in the works. When? Where? Theme? My suggestion: Davis. Photograph the Mondavi Center, campus architecture, local industrial water towers, farmland, etc. Carpooling from Bay Area required but not impossible, or the train. Good food in Davis and Sudwerk Brewpub is there, too. A thought....

Be well, shoot lots, and pet a shelf queen.
